Dr. Chevalier joined the Children’s Medical Group in 1999. Dr. Chevalier was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Mississippi in 1990 and then obtained his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1994. He then obtained his Pediatric training at the University of South Carolina/Greenville Memorial Hospital and served as Chief Resident following his training. Dr. Chevalier is the author of many published papers and is an active member of the AAP. He is married and has 2 children. In his spare time he enjoys playing the guitar, reading, Ole Miss football, and collecting baseball cards.

Dr. Ellison joined the Children’s Medical Group in 1993. He was born in San Francisco, but his family has been long time residents of Mississippi. Dr. Ellison did his undergraduate studies at the University of Mississippi, San Francisco State University, and the University of Malta. In undergraduate he was on the Ole Miss Swim team and also was in the Glee Club. He received has medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1990. Dr. Ellison obtained his Pediatric training at Vanderbilt University Hospital. Dr. Ellison is married with 4 children and enjoys tennis, basketball, spectator sports and playing with his children.

Dr. Freeman joined the Children’s Medical Group in 1975. Dr. Freeman graduated from Millsaps College in 1968 and then received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1972. He then obtained his Pediatric training at the University of Mississippi Children’s Hospital in Jackson. Dr. Freeman is active in the local medical societies. He is married with children and enjoys farming in his spare time.

Dr. Hopper joined the Children’s Medical Group in 1988. Dr. Hopper is originally from New Orleans and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Trinity University in 1981. He received his medical degree from Tulane University in 1985. Dr. Hopper obtained his Pediatric training at the University of Alabama Children’s Hospital in Birmingham. Dr. Hopper is active in the local medical societies. He is married with 3 children and enjoys many hobbies.

Dr. Myers joined the Children’s Medical Group in 2002. She is a native of Durant, MS. She obtained a B.S. in biology from the University of Mississippi in 1994. Dr. Myers then obtained her medical degree in Jackson at the University Medical Center and remained there for her Pediatric training. While at UMC, Dr. Myers received the Blair E. Batson award for Pediatrics, the Pediatric Teaching award, and the award for the Outstanding Pediatric Resident. She also served as the Pediatric Chief Resident of the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital. Dr. Myers is married with 2 children.

Dr. Purvis joined the Children’s Medical Group in 1997. He is originally from Grosse Pointe, Michigan. Dr. Purvis graduated from Millsaps College in 1986 and received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1991. He then obtained his Pediatric training at the University Children’s Hospital in Jackson. Following his training, Dr. Purvis served on the Pediatric faculty at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, LA. Dr. Purvis is interested in medical education and is a member of all the local medical societies. He is married with 2 children and enjoys cycling.

Dr. Russell joined the Children’s Medical Group in January, 2000. He is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1994. Dr. Russell then trained at Louisiana State University (New Orleans) in Pediatrics and served his program as Chief Resident. Following this, he was on staff at the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, MS training future pediatricians. Dr. Russell is married and his favorite event is Mardi Gras.

Dr. Smith joined the Children’s Medical Group in 1979. Dr. Smith is originally from Macon, GA and was a Cum Laude graduate from Millsaps College in 1972. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1976. Dr. Smith obtained his Pediatric training at the University Children’s Hospital in Jackson. Dr. Smith is active in local medical societies serving as Chief of Pediatrics at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center and at Methodist Medical Center. Dr. Smith is married with 3 children and enjoys spectator sports, jogging and gardening.

Dr. Storey joined Children’s Medical Group in 2000. She graduated Cum Laude from Harvard University and underwent post-graduate studies at the University of Maryland. Dr. Storey obtained her medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 1995. She then did her Pediatrics training at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She is married and has 5 children.

Dr. Welch joined the Children’s Medical Group in 1975. He is a native of Laurel and graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1968. He received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1972. Dr. Welch then obtained his Pediatric training at the University Children’s Hospital in Jackson. Dr. Welch is active in the local medical societies. He is married with children and enjoys playing golf in his spare time.

Dr. Rohman joined the Children's Medical Group in 2007.  She is a native of Clarksdale, Mississippi and received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Mississippi College in 2000.  Dr. Rohman received her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2004 and remained there for her Pediatric training.  Dr. Rohman is married and has one daughter.  She enjoys reading, cooking and traveling with her family.

Dr. Penny joined Children's Medical Group in 2008.  She is a native of Port Gibson, MS and received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Engineering from Mississippi State University in 2000.  Dr. Penny obtained her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2004.  She received her Pediatric training at the University of California, Davis where she served as Chief Resident following her training.  Dr. Penny is married with one son and enjoys exercising and playing bridge in her spare time.
